Sodom and Gomorrah were cities mentioned in the Book of Genesis and throughout the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament and Deuterocanonical sources, as well as the Qur'an, hadith and tafsir. According to the Torah, the kingdoms of Sodom and Gomorrah were allied with the cities of Admah, Zeboim and Bela. These five cities, also known as the "cities of the plain", were situated on the Jordan River plain in the southern region of the land of Canaan. The plain — which corresponds to the area just north of the modern day Dead Sea) — was compared to the garden of Eden [Gen.13:10] as being a land well-watered and green, suitable for grazing livestock. Whether or not they ever existed is disputed by archaeologists.
Divine judgment by God was then passed upon Sodom and Gomorrah along with two other neighboring cities that were completely consumed by fire and brimstone. Neighboring Zoar (Bela) was the only city to be spared during that day of judgment.[Deut.29:23][Gen.10:19]
In Abrahamic religions, Sodom and Gomorrah have become synonymous with impenitent sin, and their fall with a proverbial manifestation of God's wrath. [Jude 1:7] Sodom and Gomorrah have been used as metaphors for vice and homosexuality viewed as a deviation. (Deviation in God's plan of Salvation is called sin.)
The story has therefore given rise to words in several languages, including the English word sodomy, used in sodomy laws to describe a sexual "crime against nature" consisting of anal and/or oral sex, either homosexual or heterosexual. Some highly conservative Islamic societies incorporate punishments associated with Sodom and Gomorrah into sharia law
[Romans 1:26] For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
God delivered them up: Not by being author of their sins, but by withdrawing his grace, and so permitting them, in punishment of their pride, to fall into those shameful sins.
In verse 26, lesbianism is shameful in God's eyes. Verse 27 talks about men committing lustful acts with men. Both verses 26 & 27 are about the sinfulness of the act of homosexuality which he condemns and abhors the most.
It is not sinful to be gay and to love but beyond that with the act of lustfulness and fornications with same sex male or female is. This is not God's plan to create homosexuals but about creating man and woman for each other.Who were the Sodomites? What is the meaning of the term "sodomite"?
According to Unger's Bible Dictionary, the people of the area worshipped fertility gods, chief among them were Baal/Ashtoreth (Astarte, Asherah - she had many names). This was the female goddess of war and fertility, sensual love and maternity. "She and her colleagues specialized in sex and war and her shrines were temples of legalized vice" (Unger, p. 412).
Her worship practices were basically orgies, with worshippers required to have sex with the priests and priestesses. The priests or male prostitutes, according to Unger, who were consecrated to her cult "were styled qedishim, 'sodomites' (Thou shalt not offer the hire of a strumpet, nor the price of a dog, in the house of the Lord thy God, whatsoever it be that thou hast vowed: because both these are an abomination to the Lord thy God. Deuteronomy 23:18).
Is this God's Plan and Will?
Sodom and Gomorrah
Is this pleasing in God's eyes?
What is ODD? Two fathers without a mother.
And what are the basic rights of children?
To have a loving Father and Mother around them.
|There is a pretty good chance the child is a boy not a girl.|
Isaiah 3:4 And I will give
children to be their princes,
and the effeminate
shall rule over them.
